Julius AI is an "AI data analyst": you upload an Excel, CSV or Google Sheets file and ask in plain language, for example "compare each month's sales with last year and draw a chart". Behind the scenes Julius writes and runs Python code and returns the result as a table, chart and explanation; you can see the code too. Its main difference from general chatbots is that the whole product is designed around working with data, and analyses can be saved as repeatable notebooks.
What is Julius AI good for?#
- Online shop sales reports: You provide WooCommerce order exports and get top-selling products, monthly trends and each city's share.
- Data cleaning: It identifies and fixes inconsistent date columns, duplicate rows and empty cells.
- Statistical analysis for a thesis: A student provides survey data and gets simple statistical tests and charts with explanation; the result must be confirmed with a supervisor or statistics software.
- Quick dashboards: For a management meeting, it prepares several charts from ad campaign data.
- Simple forecasting: It estimates the sales trend for the next few months with basic models.
Strengths and weaknesses#
Strengths:
- You do real analysis without knowing Excel formulas or programming.
- The generated Python code is visible, so you can check the work.
- Notebooks let you repeat a report on fresh data.
Weaknesses:
- The free version is very limited.
- Like any AI tool, it sometimes misreads a column or gives a wrong result; check important numbers by hand.
- Your data is processed on an external server, so it is not suitable for sensitive customer information.
- Text in non-Latin scripts may not display correctly in charts.
Free version and pricing#
The free version has a small number of messages and files are deleted quickly; it is enough for a trial. Paid subscriptions add more messages, longer file retention and direct connections to databases. Check the official site for current prices.
Language support#
Julius understands questions in other languages and gives explanations in them, but data in other languages brings a few headaches: labels in non-Latin scripts may appear separated or reversed in charts, and dates in non-Gregorian calendars must be declared explicitly so they aren't confused with Gregorian dates.
Getting started in three steps#
- Before uploading, remove sensitive columns such as customer names and numbers.
- Upload the file and ask one specific question.
- Check the code and output numbers, and save the analysis so you can repeat it.
Julius AI alternatives#
- ChatGPT: data analysis by running code, alongside all its other features.
- Claude: file analysis and interactive charts, with careful explanation.
- Gemini: better integration if your data lives in Google Sheets.
For the method, read data and sales report analysis with AI, and before uploading customer data, what never to give an AI: keys, passwords and customer data.
