Artificial Analysis is an independent site for comparing AI models. It puts the quality, response speed, latency and cost of different models and providers side by side, and does not rely only on vendors' claims; it runs the tests itself. It is a decision tool, not a content-creation tool: you visit, compare and leave.

What is Artificial Analysis good for?#

  • Choosing a model for a product: a developer building a support bot finds the cheap, fast model from the charts.
  • Comparing cost and quality: see how much better the pricier model really is.
  • Following the model race: a broad view of which models sit at the top of the table.
  • Choosing an API provider: several providers serve the same model with different speed and price.
  • Comparing image and audio models: besides text models, it has sections for image, video and speech.
  • Writing a report or article: an independent source for numbers and comparisons.

Strengths and weaknesses#

Strengths:

  • Independent testing, not just company claims.
  • Quality, speed and price in one chart.
  • Updated regularly as new models arrive.
  • Free to view.

Weaknesses:

  • A composite index does not measure every need, and most tests are in English.
  • It does not directly show quality in your language.
  • A top rank does not necessarily mean best for your task.
  • Useless for a casual user who just wants to chat.

Free version and pricing#

Viewing the comparisons is free. If there are parts meant for organizations, check their terms on the official site.

Language support#

The site is in English and its tests are mostly English, so for other languages it is only a general guide. We have no confirmed information on access from Iran, so it is listed as unknown.

Getting started in three steps#

  1. Go to the language model comparison section.
  2. Sort models by what you need: quality, speed or price.
  3. Test two or three candidates with your own real text.

Artificial Analysis alternatives#

  • OpenRouter: access many models through one API and compare price and provider.
  • Hugging Face: leaderboards and open-source models.
  • Poe: try several models directly in one place and compare real experience.
