Coda is a tool that combines documents, tables and automation on one canvas, something between Google Docs, Google Sheets and a simple app. Coda AI is the AI assistant inside it: it writes, summarizes, and can fill in or categorize table columns. The product now sits under the Grammarly umbrella, so its name and packaging may change.
What is Coda AI good for?#
- Team docs and wikis: write a guide page or project plan and let AI draft it.
- Data analysis in tables: add a column that categorizes each row, such as customer feedback as positive or negative.
- Meeting summaries and reports: turn raw notes into an organized summary.
- Simple internal tools: build an order tracker or internal form with buttons and formulas.
- Automation: connect messages or alerts to events in a table.
Strengths and weaknesses#
Strengths:
- The power of formulas and internal tools, going beyond a simple document.
- AI inside tables for categorizing and filling columns.
- Integrations with many services.
Weaknesses:
- Harder for an ordinary user to learn than Notion.
- Team cost and AI limits may be restrictive.
- New ownership may change the product's direction.
- Right-to-left support is not well optimized.
Free version and pricing#
A limited free plan exists, and team features, part of the AI and higher limits come with a paid plan. Check the official site for current prices.
Language support and access from Iran#
The interface is in English. Writing in Persian is possible, but right-to-left display and the quality of AI answers are better in English.
We are not sure about access from Iran, and buying paid plans requires an international card.
Coda AI alternatives#
- Notion AI: simpler for wikis and team notes, with more users.
- ClickUp Brain: if project management is your priority.
- Taskade: lighter for small teams.
- Motion: automatic scheduling of tasks and your calendar.
