Dreamina is an AI image and video generation platform from the CapCut team at ByteDance. From a text prompt or a reference photo, it creates images, posters, short videos and talking avatars. Its main engine is ByteDance's own models: the Seedream family for images and Seedance for video, which have ranked among the strongest in global comparisons; a few models from other companies are also available alongside them. What sets it apart from competitors is the daily free credits and the natural connection to CapCut for final editing.

What is Dreamina good for?#

  • Product photos and ad posters: an online store gives it a simple product photo and gets a version with a professional background and studio lighting for the product page or Instagram.
  • Turning photos into video: a content creator turns a still image into a short animated clip for Reels.
  • Video from text with several references: for a short teaser, you put several reference photos and audio next to the prompt so the character and scene stay consistent.
  • Talking avatars: an online teacher syncs a character image with an audio file and makes a course intro video.
  • Image editing with text commands: select part of an image and change it with one sentence, such as a clothing color or removing an object.
  • Visual ideation: a designer quickly tries different styles and compositions for a campaign.

Strengths and weaknesses#

Strengths:

  • Daily free credits with no payment card needed
  • High video quality and natural motion in the Seedance models
  • Image, video and avatar generation in one environment
  • Easy connection to CapCut for editing and captions

Weaknesses:

  • Stronger models and longer video use many credits, so free credits run out fast
  • Text inside images is unreliable for non-Latin scripts
  • Like other ByteDance products, the privacy and content-use terms should be read carefully

Free version and pricing#

Dreamina is freemium and credit-based. Each day you receive some free credits, enough for a few images or short videos, but not every model and duration is available with them. Paid subscriptions give more credits, more advanced models, higher quality and watermark-free output. Check the official site for current prices.

Language support#

It accepts prompts in other languages, but output is more accurate with English prompts; it is better to write the description in English or translate it with a chat assistant. Writing text inside images is still weak for non-Latin scripts and letters come out separated or unintelligible; add that text afterwards in an editor.

Getting started in three steps#

  1. Sign in to Dreamina with a CapCut account, Google or a real email.
  2. Start in the image generation section with a simple English prompt and set the style and aspect ratio.
  3. Take your best image to the video section and turn it into a short clip, then move it to CapCut for final editing.

Dreamina alternatives#

  • Kling: the main competitor in realistic video and natural motion.
  • Leonardo AI: image generation with more style control and tools for game and product design.
  • Midjourney: higher artistic quality and aesthetics in images, with no free plan.
  • CapCut: if you have raw video and need more editing and captions than generation from scratch.
